Understand Multi-Stage Approval Progress

PulseFlow workflows can chain multiple approvers. The Progress indicator tells you where in the chain a form sits.

Before you start
 • You are on a workflow with multiple approvers in series
 • You want to know who has acted and who is next
What you'll achieve
 • A clear read of the Progress column
 • An understanding of what happens after you approve

Reading the Progress column

Each workflow has a defined number of stages (1, 2, 3, 4, or more). The Progress column shows current / total — for example 1/4 Applied means one stage is already approved and three remain, with the form currently sitting with you.

On this screen
If you see 2/4 Applied in your queue, two prior approvers have already signed off, you are the third, and one more approver will see it after you.

What each signal means

FieldWhat to enterRequired
Stage name (Title column)Which approval level this is — e.g. HR Approval, Manager Approval, Finance Sign-off.No
Progress countNumber of prior stages already approved vs total stages in the chain. No
Stage ownerWho (role or named user) owns this stage — defined by the workflow in Workflow Builder. No
Parallel vs serialSome stages route to multiple approvers in parallel; others are strictly serial. Check the workflow definition. No

After you approve

When you approve, the form moves to the next stage automatically — no notification required from you. If you were the final stage, the form status changes to Approved and the submitter is notified.

Frequently asked
What if I reject in the middle of the chain?
The entire workflow ends. Earlier approvals are retained in the audit log but the form is not actioned further.
Can I see the full chain before deciding?
Yes. Open the submission detail — every stage, its owner, and its status is listed.
Can stages be run in parallel?
Yes, if the workflow is configured that way. Open the workflow in Workflow Builder to review the structure.
