BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Prerequisites

  • ESS access enabled for employees
  • Short Time Off policies configured under Settings → CoreHR → Time Off
  • Approval workflow defined for Short Time Off requests
  • Clarity on when to use Permission vs. On Duty
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE

Outcome

  • Employees can submit part-day absence requests from ESS
  • Managers approve or reject with full context
  • Attendance records auto-adjust on approval
  • Clean record of bank visits, client meetings, and trainings

The Short Time Off feature allows employees to request time away from work for a limited duration during the day. This can be availed either as:

  • Permission – When the employee needs to step out for personal reasons (e.g., bank, medical, personal work).

  • On Duty – When the employee is away from the workplace but engaged in official/company-related tasks (e.g., client visit, training, official meeting).

Requests must be submitted through ESS and are subject to manager approval as per organizational policy. The approved time will be adjusted in attendance records accordingly.

WHEN TO USE

Permission

Use when the employee is stepping out for personal reasons — bank, medical appointments, or personal errands. Not company-related.

WHEN TO USE

On Duty

Use when the employee is away from the workplace but engaged in official / company-related tasks — client visits, training, official meetings.

TIP

Submission & approval flow: Requests are submitted through ESS and routed to the manager per your organizational policy. Once approved, the time is automatically adjusted in attendance records — no manual reconciliation needed.
