Set up Permission (Limit by Request or Duration) and On Duty policies under Settings → CoreHR → Time Off, with coverage, activation, duration limits, and alternate-person rules.
Navigate to Settings → CoreHR → Time off- Short Time off(Permission)
You have two options for configuring permissions.
By Request – Employees are allowed to apply for permission a maximum of 2 times in a month.
By Duration – Permissions can be set with a minimum and maximum allowable duration, as defined by your policy.
To configure, click the Edit icon on the right-hand side and update your policy settings.
You can select the coverage for the permission policy configuration: it can be applicable to all employees or a custom group of employees.
You can also configure the Activation After setting to specify when the policy will become effective.

By Request vs By Duration: "By Request" caps monthly count (e.g., 2/month). "By Duration" caps the min/max length per request. Pick the model that matches your policy — or combine both by setting monthly request count alongside duration min/max.
On Duty has no restrictions: There are no request or duration limits in the On Duty configuration — it's purely a coverage setting (All Employees or Custom Group). Duration restrictions only apply to the Permission policy.
