🎯 WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE

Worked Example
Here’s a detailed breakdown of the prorated leave calculation for an employee with a leave eligibility period from January to December and a Date of Joining on March 19, 2024:
INPUT 1
Leave Eligibility per Annum
15 days
INPUT 2
Leave Closure Period
Jan 1 – Dec 31
INPUT 3
Date of Joining
March 19, 2024
INPUT 4
Leave Days Between Joining and End of Year
(19th March to 31st Dec 2024)
288 days
Prorate Calculation
STEP 1
Per Day Leave Balance
Per Day Leave Balance = Annual Leave Eligibility / Total Days in the Year
= 15 / 365
= 0.04109 days
STEP 2
Prorated Leave Balance
Prorated Leave Balance = Per Day Leave Balance × Leave Days
= 0.04109 × 288 days
= 11.83
= 12 days (Rounded Off)
✓ FINAL RESULT
So, the prorated leave balance for the employee, who joined on March 19, 2024, and has an annual leave entitlement of 15 days, will be 12 days.
💡 NOTE
The system automatically applies this formula during onboarding and policy assignment. Rounding follows the half-up convention (11.83 → 12).
