Design a designation-aware approval path so every resignation is routed to the right approvers automatically — and always has a default to fall back on.

Designing Designation-Tiered Workflows
You can create multiple workflows and bind each one to specific designations. A common pattern is to keep senior exits light-touch and junior exits more thorough:
Higher-level designations
2-level approval
Senior roles route through a short, direct chain — typically a reporting manager and a business head.
Lower-level designations
4-level approval
Individual contributors route through a deeper chain — team lead, manager, HR, and department head — to ensure full clearance.
On This Screen
Each workflow row in the builder shows its designation mapping, its stages, and whether it's the default. The star or "default" pill marks the fallback workflow.

The Default Workflow
Important
One workflow must be flagged as the default. Any employee whose designation doesn't match a specific rule will fall through to this default flow — so make sure it covers your catch-all case (often a safe mid-tier flow with manager + HR).
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if an employee's designation doesn't match any workflow?
They're routed through the default workflow automatically. That's why every org must have exactly one workflow marked as default.
Can I attach a No Dues form at a specific approval stage?
Yes. Inside each workflow stage you can select any published No Dues questionnaire — IT at the IT stage, Finance at the Finance stage, and so on.
Can I change the workflow after an employee has already applied?
Changes apply to future resignations only. In-flight requests continue through the workflow that was live at the time of submission.
Can two designations share a workflow?
Yes — a single workflow can be mapped to multiple designations. Useful when several roles have the same manager hierarchy.
