Attendance Shortage
Review days where an employee's working hours fell below the policy minimum — initiate leave or ignore the shortage, one record at a time.

Before You Start
- Admin role with approval rights for Attendance Finalization
- Attendance policy with a minimum daily working-hours rule configured
- Shortage records exist for the selected date range

What is Attendance Shortage?
Attendance Shortage refers to days where an employee's total working hours are less than the minimum required hours defined in your organization's attendance policy.
How it works
When this policy is applicable for your org, all attendance records that fall short are listed here with the shortage hours calculated based on your configuration. You can initiate leave per policy or ignore the record without penalty.
Taking Action on a Record

Select the record
From the Shortage tab, select the attendance record you want to address.

Choose the action
Click the Action button and pick either Initiate Leave (as per policy) or Ignore.

Confirm
On confirmation, the leave is logged in the Leave Request module or the record is removed from the queue — depending on your choice.
What Happens Next
Once leave is initiated, it's recorded in the Leave Request module and follows the configured approval workflow for further processing.
Heads up — Ignore is permanent
Once you ignore a shortage record it is removed from the queue and cannot be reverted. Double-check the record before choosing Ignore.
On This Screen
Each row shows the employee, date, actual hours worked, shortage hours, and an Action button. Filter by date range and employee to narrow the queue.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is shortage calculated?
It's the difference between the policy minimum daily working hours and the actual hours derived from the employee's punches for that day.
What if an employee was on leave that day?
Leave days don't appear in the shortage queue — the policy treats them as non-working. If you see one, check whether the leave was fully approved and synced.
Can I bulk-ignore shortages?
Shortage is handled one record at a time to encourage review. For bulk cleanups you can still select multiple checkboxes when available in your configuration.
Does "Initiate Leave" need the employee's approval?
The request is raised on their behalf but still follows the leave approval workflow — so it remains visible and requires the configured approver's action.
